1. Introduction and Expectations (15 minutes)
Welcome and workshop purpose
What “work-ready” means
Short group discussion: “What do you think employers expect?”
Activity:
Participants share one expectation they think employers have.
2. Understanding the Workplace (30 minutes)
What a workplace is and how it functions
Roles, responsibilities, and expectations
Professional behaviour at work
Activity:
Small groups list responsibilities for a chosen job role and share with the group.
3. Communication at Work (30 minutes)
Speaking clearly and respectfully
Listening and asking questions
Basic workplace communication scenarios
Activity:
Role-play short conversations (asking for clarification, responding to instructions).
4. Managing Tasks and Simple Problems (30 minutes)
Understanding tasks and instructions
Managing time and priorities
Knowing when to ask for help
Activity:
Participants review a short work scenario and decide what steps to take.
5. Digital Readiness (20 minutes)
Common digital tools used at work
Email and messaging basics
Professional online behaviour
Activity:
Participants review a sample work email and identify what is done well and what could be improved.
6. Preparing to Start Work (20 minutes)
First-day expectations
Common early challenges
Continuing to learn at work

Individual reflection: “One thing I will do to be more work-ready.”
